Even as the hate speech by Akbaruddin Owaisi is still afresh in public memory, yet another MLA of the Majlise- Ittehadul Muslimeen, Syed Ahmed Pasha Qadri, has come into the sights of the law by allegedly making a statement dishonouring Mahatma Gandhi. His remarks about Mahatma Gandhi’s statue inside the state assembly are Anti National.
‘’kiski baap ka building (Assembly) and kisku laake bithaya” (whose building was it and who have they brought and installed there) during a speech in Jagtial. By this he meant The Nizams built the state assembly building in Hyderabad, but see what has happened. They have installed a statue of Mahatma Gandhi there. Who constructed it and who has been installed there? . Quadri, who represents Charminar in the assembly, told a gathering in Karimanagar district’s Jagityal town on Thursday.
He said “we” have built all significant structures in India. “What have you done?” he asked. “We constructed Red Fort, Taj Mahal, Qutub Minar, Mecca Masjid and Charminar. What have you constructed in Hindustan?”. Qaudri accused the state government of targeting MIM and framing his fellow party legislator, Akbaruddin Owaisi, jailed for alleged hate speeches.
A few organizations protested Quadri’s speech as BJP’s Jagityal unit, lodged the complaint and submitted a CD of his speech as it went viral on Facebook and YouTube. They also attached a CD of the MLA’s speech with their complaint. But, Jagtial circle inspector M Kiran Kumar said the police are taking legal opinion on the matter and have already informed their higher ups.
‘’We will register a case, once we get the go ahead from both our higher officials and legal advisors,’’ he said. “We received a complaint and are seeking legal opinion about it,” ASP B Rajeshwari told. Sources said police were collecting information about the MLA’s speech from the district’s Special Branch and would take a decision on registering a case against Quadri accordingly. A similar complaint against the MLA was lodged with the Karimnagar Two Town police station also.
Taking exception to the disparaging remarks against Mahatma Gandhi, government chief whip and Sangareddy MLA T Jayapraksh Reddy said the comments amount to an insult of every Indian.He demanded an unconditional apology to the nation to by Qadri and accused the MIM of trying to get political mileage by making provocative statements hurting the feelings of people at large.
Ananda Thinks :: “I personally think Quadri’s speech was planned and designed to revive memories of Nizam’s rule, the old Hyderabad state and Razakar Movement, which is bound to strike a chord with the region’s Muslims. But his ‘us and them’ rhetoric is dangerous. His speech is likely to anger all sections of civilized society. Such leaders must be condemned openly by both Hindus and Muslims. United they must demand for a suspension of such legislator who has no respect towards the Mahatma. Police must not think much and act as soon as possible.and Shri Jaya Prakash reddy (Urf : Jagga Reddy),Sir, apology is not enough. Because, these people are working with communal intent. I personally, Request you to intervene in this matter and take this to the notice of the speaker.”
